Hello! Everyone, thanks for being here. I am Ishrat Umar a poetess and writer. I believe and concentrate on my writing skills. My love for literature and fine arts was groomed by my parents who were avid readers. Writing is my passion which provides immense satisfaction. I believe that where there is a will, there is a way. Practice makes a man perfect. There was an environment of variety of books and reading- writing, at my home. 
Poetry is a literary art that uses aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language to evoke meaning. Poetry is a method of creation and manifestation, a method of memory and preservation. Poetry is an art form that predates literacy. It is used to convey love, lyrics, anger. Hate and magic. 
There is sense of wonder in my creativity. A delightful confluence of imagination and reality that where tangible and abstract pushes the reader to take imaginative leaps. I believe in truth of Imagination. I can not separate my imagination from reality while writing. I do not know when something real transpires in my poetries when a dream takes over. All characters in my work are people with whom I come in contact over the course of my life--- may be my roll- models, colleagues, neighbors, teachers or youngsters and nature. There is no particular reason for writing poetry or prose often a thought compels me to write, which gently taps the mind. It is like a testimony for readers who come, in contact with my work.
